At 16, I suffered my first knee injury - multiple torn ligaments. During my exchange year in the USA, without my parents around. My mindset was clear from the start: grit your teeth and push through the surgery, rehab, and all the highs and lows. There was no other option, and feeling sorry for myself was never on the table. My physical therapists told me how remarkable it was to see a 16-year-old handle rehab with such maturity. That injury shaped me, and today I say it's one of the best things that ever happened to me – even though 1.5 years later I suffered a similar injury that enden my football career.
With that exchange year, I consciously stepped out of my comfort zone for one reason: to collect experiences. A great byproduct was gaining lifelong friends, a 'second family', courage, joy, and unforgettable moments. Why? Because I took that first step. At that age, I was already unconsciously programming my brain in the right direction. I've kept that up ever since - fought back from 2 serious injuries, returned to Germany, finished my high school , and started studying Chiropractic. It was always clear to me that I would build my dream life. No matter how long it takes. With the people I love by my side. Doubts come and go. But I know my dream life is waiting. And if I can do it – why can't you?
